I’m not sure, but I think this may be my favorite photo out of all the photos I’ve taken.
My friend Henna was crossing that log, and just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I had to swiftly duck down below some vine maples and nearly fell on my ass in the middle of Proxy Creek after slipping on some slick rocks, but I managed to quickly get the shot while it was still candid.
I think I’m so drawn to this one in particular because, to me, it feels like a great representation of how I feel and experience a lot of the places I encounter in the wilderness, especially for the very first time; with wonder, curiosity, and amazement. She’s so small in this photo, just a colorful blot navigating through the grand theater around her, it conveys this sense of absolute immersion in the surrounding environment, and the act of being in these wild places.
